How to add or remove a competitor
Watch a competitor's Google listing from the Competitors screen, within your plan's profile limit, and how to stop watching one.
Watching a competitor keeps a dated record of its public reviews and listing, so you can see its bursts and patterns and how it moves against your own business.
How many you can watch
| Plan | Competitors |
|---|---|
| 14-day trial | 1, beside your own business |
| Starter | 1, beside your own business |
| Business | 3, beside your own business |
| Growth | 8 profiles in any mix, your own included |
| Enterprise | as agreed with you |
Each plan also limits how many reviews a profile may have, and how many all your profiles hold together. If a competitor would take you past a limit, the dashboard tells you when you try to add it. Move to a larger plan, or remove a competitor first. See Compare plans in detail.
Add a competitor
- Open Competitors: from the menu on a phone, or the sidebar on a larger screen.
- Choose Add competitor.
- Search for the business by name and town, or paste its Google Maps link.
- Pick the right listing and choose Watch this listing.
Its first pull starts straight away, and its page shows the progress. A big profile can take a while the first time. After that it is pulled on your plan's schedule, like your own business.
Good to know
- A competitor is watched through its public Google data. That says nothing about who owns the listing, and the dashboard marks its ownership as not verified.
- You read a competitor's reviews; you never answer them.
- From a competitor's page you can open its reviews, or choose Audit this competitor for a Fake Review Audit.
Remove a competitor
- Open Competitors and pick the competitor from the list.
- Choose Stop watching, beside Audit this competitor.
- Read what stops and what is kept, then choose Yes, stop watching.
Its pulls stop, it leaves your competitor comparison, and its slot is free for another. Every review already collected is kept: add the listing again and it is all still there. While a Fake Review Audit is still collecting that competitor's reviews, the dashboard says so and the competitor stays watched until the audit has finished.
The same Stop watching is on Workspace, beside each watched profile.
